มาตรฐานผลิตภัณฑ์อุตสาหกรรมนี้ ระบุการทดสอบเปลวไฟเข็ม ในการจำลองผลกระทบของเปลวไฟขนาดเล็กที่เป็นผลจากภาวะผิดพร่องเพื่อประเมินโดยเทคนิคการจำลองอันตรายจากไฟ
การทดสอบนี้สามารถใช้ได้กับบริภัณฑ์เทคนิคทางไฟฟ้า ชุดประกอบย่อยและส่วนประกอบของบริภัณฑ์ดังกล่าว และวัสดุฉนวนไฟฟ้าที่เป็นของแข็ง หรือวัสดุอื่นๆ ที่เผาไหม้ได้
ความรับผิดชอบอย่างหนึ่งของคณะกรรมการวิชาการคือการนำข้อกำหนดความปลอดภัยขั้นพื้นฐานนี้ไปใช้พิจารณากำหนดมาตรฐานที่อยู่ในขั้นเตรียมการร่างมาตรฐาน ถ้าเห็นว่าเหมาะสม
This standard specifies a needle-flame test to simulate the effect of a small flame which may result from fault conditions, in order to assess by a simulation technique the fire hazard.
It is applicable to electrotechnical equipment, its sub-assemblies and components and to solid electrical insulating materials or other combustible materials.
One of the responsibilities of a technical committee is, wherever applicable, to make use of basic safety publications in the preparation of its publications.
